A gas griddle, or gas plancha, heats an enamelled cast iron, stainless steel or steel plate with one or more burners fed by a gas bottle: it is the barbecue alternative for terraces and big tables. If you are still choosing between types of griddle, our category page compares every family. Here I have gathered 12 gas griddles sold on Amazon, from Le Marquier, Forge Adour, Eno and Krampouz to Campingaz, Somagic, Happy Garden and H.Koenig. I read their manufacturer pages, checked their prices on 07/10/2026 and wrote down each one's drawback, plainly.

Gas griddle: our 3 picks
For a small terrace, go for Le Marquier's Petite Française Gaz 250; for a big table, Forge Adour's Modern Gaz 75; on a small budget, Campingaz's Blue Flame L.
For a small terrace: Le Marquier La Petite Française Gaz 250 (249.00 euros on 07/10/2026). Its drawback first: the Amazon page is almost empty, our figures come from the manufacturer, and neither gives a number of guests. Otherwise, it is a 14.4 kg tabletop griddle with a 50 x 35 cm plate, two burners totalling 3,600 W and the Origine France Garantie label. The plate and burners carry a lifetime warranty.
For a big table: Forge Adour Modern Gaz 75 black steel (649.90 euros on 07/10/2026). Its limits: it is the most expensive of the twelve, only 2 were left at the time of our check, and Amazon sells it for indoor use when the manufacturer only certifies the 45 and 60 sizes for that. In return: 3 burners for 6,000 W, a 74.4 x 42 cm plate for 4 to 15 guests, a 1-litre grease tray and a warranty of up to 15 years.
Small budget: Campingaz Plancha Blue Flame L (143.89 euros on 07/10/2026). The plate is enamelled steel rather than cast iron, and its Amazon page shows two outputs: we use the manufacturer's 6 kW. It gives you 60 x 40 cm for 10 to 12 guests, two burners with piezo ignition, and it is sold and shipped by Amazon.

Our best gas griddle comparison ranks these models profile by profile, with a summary table.
Why choose a gas plancha grill?
You choose a gas griddle for its output and how fast it heats up: it is the one that sears a large batch of meat, vegetables or prawns best outdoors. The twelve models we kept range from 2.8 to 6 kW, while a tabletop electric griddle tops out at around 2,300 W.
- The upsides: a plate that reaches 300 °C and more (360 °C for the Initial 50), burners you can set separately for two cooking zones, no socket needed in the garden, and food that never touches the flame, unlike on a barbecue.
- The downsides: a gas bottle and a regulator to buy, outdoor use only (Somagic, Eno and Krampouz say so), a plate that stays in place when you clean it, and a weight of 10.5 to 39 kg.
For a flat balcony where gas bottles are not allowed, or to cook indoors, an electric griddle is the only option. For a built outdoor kitchen, the built-in griddle sits in the worktop.
Tabletop griddle or griddle on a cart?
A tabletop griddle goes on a table, a low wall or a side unit; a griddle on a cart comes with its own trolley, shelves and often a lid. The cart costs more, but it hides the gas bottle and gives you a comfortable working height.
| Format | Models we kept | For whom | Prices checked on 07/10/2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tabletop, 45 to 50 cm plate | Othello 1 CV, PLX1022, Initial 50, Petite Française 250 | 2 to 6 guests, small terrace | 119.99 to 317.79 euros |
| Tabletop, 54 to 60 cm plate | Samba, Solia 200, Inox 260 V2, Original 260 Duo, Blue Flame L, Mérida | 6 to 12 guests | 119.99 to 399.00 euros |
| Tabletop, 75 cm plate | Modern Gaz 75 | Up to 15 guests | 649.90 euros |
| On a cart with lid | Original 260 Duo with cart | 6 to 10 guests | 549.00 euros |
The price shown on Amazon when you buy is the one that applies.
On Amazon, the same Original Gaz 260 Duo cost 249.00 euros less on its own than with its cart, lid and bottle cover on 07/10/2026 (299.00 against 549.00 euros): the difference pays for the furniture. The price shown on Amazon when you buy is the one that applies. Manufacturers also sell a side unit or a hood separately, and a protective cover for winter. The three-burner models designed for heavy use are gathered on our professional gas griddle page.
Camping gas griddle: cartridge or bottle?
A camping gas griddle runs on a cartridge rather than a bottle: that is the case of the Othello 1 CV, which connects to a CV 470 Plus cartridge with the hose and regulator supplied. It weighs 10.5 kg according to Amazon, with a single 2.8 kW burner and a 45 x 30 cm plate. It is a griddle for a tent, a camper van or a small balcony, not for a table of ten.
The other models connect to a butane or propane bottle, and their weight (11 to 39 kg) does not make them suited to the boot of a small car. The brand also sells a Camp'Bistro 3 stove supplied with a small grill plate, but that is a single-burner stove, not a griddle.
How to choose a gas griddle?
Look, in this order, at the number of burners, the output and surface, the cooking plate, the gas, then ignition and safety features.
Two burners or three?
A two-burner griddle is enough for 4 to 10 guests: two burners set separately create two zones, so you sear on one side and keep warm on the other. Move to three burners from a 70 cm plate, like the Modern 75 and its three aluminised steel burners, or if you often host more than ten. A single burner, as on the Othello 1 CV, is for camping and meals for two or three.
Output in kW and cooking surface
Output ranges from 2.8 kW (Othello 1 CV) to 6 kW (Blue Flame L, Mérida, Modern 75). Compare it with the cooking surface: the Samba's 3 kW heat 54 x 33 cm, the Modern 75's 6 kW a plate almost twice that size. Be wary of Amazon pages, which often get the figure or the unit wrong: "4.25 Watts" for the Solia 200 instead of 4.25 kW, 4 kW against the manufacturer's 3.6 kW for the Inox 260 V2.
The cooking plate: enamelled cast iron, stainless steel or enamelled steel
Enamelled cast iron holds heat and is easy to clean: it is the plate used by Le Marquier, Forge Adour, Eno, Somagic and H.Koenig, and both Le Marquier and Eno give it a lifetime warranty. Stainless steel fears neither thermal shock nor scratches according to Krampouz, which guarantees the Samba's plate for 10 years. The enamelled steel of the Blue Flame L and the Mérida costs less, but holds heat less well than thick cast iron such as the Initial 50's 7 mm.
Propane or butane
Propane copes with cold, butane much less: according to Primagaz, butane becomes less effective as the temperature drops, especially below 0 °C, while propane withstands the cold and is stored outdoors, never indoors. For a griddle that also comes out in winter, use propane. All the bottle models we kept take both gases, but each gas has its own regulator, and the Solia 200 and the Initial 50 are sold without hose or regulator. Our butane or propane for a griddle page covers the connection in detail.
Piezo ignition and thermocouple
Piezo ignition, triggered by a button or by the control knob, is fitted to most models: open the bottle and turn the knob to light it. The Othello 1 CV has battery-powered electronic ignition. For safety, look for a thermocouple, which cuts the gas if the flame goes out: Eno fits one to its Bergerac, Chambord and Enosign ranges, and its site explains how to replace it, while the Initial 50 adds a cross-lighting safety between burners.
Care: how to clean a gas griddle
Clean a gas griddle while it is still hot, with the plate in place. Forge Adour advises pouring water on the plate, scrubbing with a stainless steel scourer held with the spatula and pushing the residue into the grease tray, then emptying the tray once the griddle is cold. Krampouz recommends the same method, water and a stainless steel scourer, on its stainless plate.
The grease tray should slide out from the front: 1 litre on the Modern 75, 0.7 litre on the Initial 50, 43 cl on the Samba. Between seasons, a protective cover or a hood keeps the plate and burners sheltered.
Gas griddle deals and sales: what budget to plan?
A gas griddle costs from 119.99 to 649.90 euros among our twelve models, according to our checks on 07/10/2026. The budget follows the plate material, the size and the warranty.
- Around 120 to 180 euros: enamelled steel or entry-level cast iron, from the Mérida and the PLX1022 (119.99 euros) to the Solia 200 (179.58 euros), with the Blue Flame L (143.89 euros) and the Othello 1 CV (150.70 euros).
- From 250 to 400 euros: French-made cast iron or stainless steel, from the Petite Française 250 (249.00 euros) to the Inox 260 V2 (399.00 euros), with the Original 260 Duo (299.00 euros), the Initial 50 (317.79 euros) and the Samba (359.10 euros).
- Over 500 euros: the Original 260 Duo on its cart (549.00 euros) and the Modern 75 (649.90 euros).
Gas griddle deals mostly appear in spring and during the summer sales, when the grilling season starts: a price checked in October does not hold in June. Also compare with the manufacturer's own site, which sometimes showed a higher price than Amazon on the day of our checks. The price shown on Amazon when you buy is the one that applies.
How we selected these models
I kept 12 gas griddles sold on Amazon on 07/10/2026, covering every format (tabletop, on a cart, camping), every plate material and every table size. For each one, I checked the price, availability and seller on the Amazon page, then cross-checked the number of burners, output, cooking surface, plate and number of guests against the manufacturer's page; a value we could not find is marked "n.c.", and when the two sources disagree, we use the manufacturer's figure and say so.
I did not keep the Simogas EPM-75.11 (third-party seller, 4 in stock, and a page describing an iron, a stainless steel and an enamelled cast iron plate in turn), Krampouz's Saveur gas (a single unit from a third-party seller), Forge Adour's Premium G60I (7,000 W in the title, 5,300 W in the spec table, third-party seller), the large 62 x 36 cm Eno (no seller shown at the time of our check) or Somagic's Donastia (an Amazon page stating 1,800 W, which does not add up for a gas griddle). Riviera & Bar only appeared on Amazon with electric griddles at the time of our check.
None of these griddles has been tested hands-on: the score out of 5 is an editor's opinion based on the plate, output per guest, warranty, care and price. The details are on our method page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best gas griddle in 2026?
There is no single best gas griddle, only a best one for each use. Among our twelve models, Le Marquier's Petite Française Gaz 250 has the best score for a small terrace, Forge Adour's Modern Gaz 75 for a table of up to 15, and the Blue Flame L is the most sensible choice for a family. The prices we checked are in the budget section.
What is the best surface for a gas griddle?
Enamelled cast iron is the most common plate among French brands: it holds heat, cleans easily and can carry a lifetime warranty. Stainless steel, on the Samba and the Inox 260 V2, fears neither thermal shock nor scratches. Enamelled steel costs less but holds heat less well.
How long does a gas griddle last?
No manufacturer publishes a lifespan figure, but the warranties give a benchmark: lifetime on plate and burners at Le Marquier, up to 15 years with replaceable parts at Forge Adour, lifetime on the plate and 10 years on burners at Eno, 10 years on the plate at Krampouz, 2 years at Happy Garden. A cover and a clean after every use extend its life.
How many burners does a gas griddle need?
Two burners are enough for 4 to 10 guests: they create two heat zones you can set separately. Move to three burners beyond a 70 cm plate or ten guests, as on the Modern 75. A single burner, as on the Othello 1 CV, suits camping and meals for two or three.
What output should a gas griddle have?
Allow 3 to 4 kW for a plate of around 50 cm, and 5 to 6 kW for a 60 to 75 cm plate. Among our models, the Samba heats 54 x 33 cm with 3 kW, the Initial 50 reaches 360 °C with 5 kW, and the Modern 75 spreads 6 kW over three burners. Check the output on the manufacturer's page: Amazon pages are often wrong.
