Blender: compare kitchen blenders and their current prices

By Charles Neveu Updated on 07/10/2026 Analysed Editor's review

A blender is a countertop mixer: a motor in the base, a jug on top and stainless steel blades at the bottom, spinning at thousands of revolutions per minute to turn fruit, vegetables and ice into smoothies, soups or crushed ice. You choose one by use first (smoothies, soups, drinks on the go), then by power, jug material and usable volume. I compared 15 blenders and hand blenders from eight brands, from Moulinex to KitchenAid, from the kitchen chopper to the soup maker, reading each manufacturer's page and checking prices on 07/10/2026. Each one has its drawback spelled out.

Our blender comparison for 2026

Our best value blender comparison will pick the right model for each profile: breakfast drinks, soups, small budget, large family. This page helps you choose the right type of appliance before comparing models: the grid above already lists the 15 models we checked, with their price on the day.

Countertop blender or stick blender: what is the difference?

A blender and a stick blender both blend, but not in the same way: the blender is a countertop appliance with a closed jug sitting on a motor base; the stick blender, or hand blender, is a wand you dip into the pan or into a measuring beaker. In French, the word « mixeur » often covers both, which is why shops say « mixeur blender » for the countertop model. The blender handles ice and frozen fruit better thanks to its closed jug and its power; the stick blender fits in a drawer and blends soup right in the pot. Our blender or stick blender page will go through this match-up in detail.

Food chopper and multifunction blender

A food chopper is a small bowl with blades for onions, herbs, meat or nuts: 0.5 L usable on the Kenwood Easy Chop, not enough to blend a litre of liquid. A multifunction blender puts several containers on the same base to blend, mix and chop: the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri 3-in-1 pairs a 2.1 L jug, a 700 ml cup and a 400 ml bowl with a 1,200 W motor, and also makes pizza dough with its dedicated tool.

What is a blender used for?

A blender finely blends liquid or thick mixtures: smoothies and milkshakes, soups and velvety purées, gazpacho, compotes, coulis, pancake batter, sauces, hummus and plant milks. It also crushes ice for cocktails and frozen drinks. The 1,200 W models grind almonds and hazelnuts into powder: Moulinex mentions almond flour and hummus for its PerfectMix Plus, Ninja nut butters for its Power Nutri. A soup-making blender adds heating and makes soup from start to finish, from raw vegetables to a steaming bowl. It replaces neither a stand mixer for kneading bread dough nor a chopper for three sprigs of parsley.

Which type of blender should you choose?

There are six families of blending appliances: the countertop blender, the soup maker, the personal or portable blender, the stick blender, the chopper and the multifunction blender. The table at the end of this section sums them up.

The countertop blender

This is the classic blender: a motor base, a 1.4 to 2.1 L jug and a lid with a measuring cap. In our selection, power ranges from 450 W (Philips 3000 series) to 1,200 W (Moulinex PerfectMix Plus, Philips 5000 series, Bosch VitaPower). Its strength: large quantities and crushed ice. Its limit: the counter space it takes and a jug to wash after each use. The models designed for smoothies will be compared on our smoothie blender page.

The soup maker

A soup-making blender has a heating element under the jug: it cooks and blends in the same container, so soup is ready without a saucepan. The Moulinex Easy Soup offers 5 automatic programmes from 4 to 25 minutes and keeps soup warm for 40 minutes; the Ninja Foodi HB150 has 10, for soups as well as cold drinks, with a glass jug holding 1.7 L cold and 1.4 L when cooking. Our soup maker page will compare these appliances.

The personal blender and the mini blender

A personal blender blends straight in the cup you take with you: turn the cup over, screw on the blades, blend, drink. The nutribullet Pro 900 works this way with its 700 ml BPA-free cup. The Ninja Blast goes further: cordless, it charges over USB-C and blends 470 ml at most. These formats suit a person living alone and one smoothie a day. Compact models will get their own page, mini blender.

The stick blender

A stick blender is a handle with a stainless steel shaft and blades at the end: you dip it into the pan to blend soup, mash or compote where they cook. The Bosch ErgoMaster Series 4 is rated at 1,000 W and comes with a chopper and a whisk; the Braun MultiQuick 5 is rated at 750 W on Braun's page (1,000 W in its Amazon title) and only comes with a measuring beaker. Our stick blender page will compare models from 300 to 1,200 W.

The chopper

An electric chopper is a small closed bowl with stacked blades, for chopping without liquid: onions, shallots, herbs, meat, nuts. The Kenwood Easy Chop has 4 stainless steel blades and a mayonnaise attachment; the chopper supplied with the ErgoMaster does the same job. Its strength: even results in a few pulses, and a bowl that goes in the dishwasher. Its limit: 0.5 L usable at best.

The multifunction blender

A multifunction blender combines a blender with preparation attachments, without going as far as a food processor that grates and slices. The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri 3-in-1 is a good example: a large jug for sauces, a cup for smoothies, a small bowl with a paddle for thick spoonable textures. Ninja also sells an ice cream maker, the Ninja Creami, which is not a blender but turns a mixture frozen in advance into ice cream; our Ninja Creami Deluxe page will be dedicated to it.

How to choose a blender

A blender comes down to five criteria: power, jug material, blades, usable capacity and cleaning.

Power and speed

Power ranges from 450 to 1,200 W across our countertop blenders. It matters most for crushing ice, frozen fruit and nuts: Moulinex claims an ice crush function from 800 W on its Blendforce, Ninja a Crush mode on its 1,000 W UltraCrush. Rotation speed completes the picture when the manufacturer gives it: 19,000 rpm on the 3000 series, 28,000 on the PerfectMix Plus, 30,000 on the VitaPower. As for settings, most offer 2 or 3 speeds and a Pulse button; the KitchenAid K400 offers 5, plus 3 programmes.

Glass, Tritan or plastic jug

Glass resists scratches and hot liquids: Moulinex states that the Blendforce jug withstands thermal shock up to 80 °C. It is heavier, though. Tritan, a shatterproof copolyester, is used on the Bosch VitaPower: light and tough, it takes hot mixtures according to its manufacturer. Standard plastic is found on entry-level models, on Ninja jugs and on portable cups. For a stainless steel blender, look at soup makers with a metal jug, such as the Moulinex Easy Soup.

Blades and ice crushing

Blades are stainless steel, often with four arms. Their shape matters as much as power: Moulinex highlights its Powelix technology on the PerfectMix Plus, Ninja its Total Crushing blade assembly, Bosch its ProEdge blades. A removable blade unit is much easier to clean: that is the case on the PerfectMix Plus. To crush ice, check that the manufacturer says so in black and white.

Which capacity should you choose?

The stated volume is often that of the jug, not what you can actually fill. On a 2 L jug, the PerfectMix Plus and the 5000 series state 1.5 L usable; Ninja states a 1.9 L maximum liquid fill in the UltraCrush's 2.1 L jug, and 1.4 L when cooking in the HB150's 1.7 L jug. The 3000 series states 5 servings of 200 ml for its 1.9 L jug: plan on 1.5 L for a family of four, 700 ml for one person.

Cleaning, noise and repairability

Almost all our models have dishwasher-safe parts. Some clean themselves with water and a drop of washing-up liquid: Auto-Clean programme on the Moulinex PerfectMix Plus, dedicated programme on the Ninja HB150 and the Bosch VitaPower. As for lifespan, Moulinex claims 15 years of repairability on its blenders, and the ErgoMaster motor has a 10-year guarantee. No manufacturer in our selection publishes a noise level in decibels: Ninja only says the Blast is its quietest blender.

What budget for a blender?

A blender or hand blender costs from 23.99 to 229.00 euros according to our checks on 07/10/2026. The budget follows the type of appliance and the power more than the brand.

  • Under 50 euros: the Kenwood Easy Chop chopper (23.99 euros), the Philips 3000 series blender (32.99 euros), the Braun MultiQuick 5 stick blender (39.90 euros), the glass-jug Moulinex Blendforce (49.99 euros) and the cordless Ninja Blast (49.99 euros).
  • From 55 to 95 euros: the ErgoMaster Series 4 stick blender (55.63 euros), the 1,000 to 1,200 W blenders (Philips 5000 series at 79.78 euros, Ninja UltraCrush at 79.98 euros, Moulinex PerfectMix Plus at 79.99 euros, VitaPower at 91.69 euros) and the nutribullet Pro 900 (89.99 euros).
  • From 125 to 230 euros: the soup makers (Moulinex Easy Soup 127.60 euros, Ninja HB150 138.11 euros), the Ninja Power Nutri 3-in-1 (149.99 euros) and the KitchenAid Artisan K400 (229.00 euros).

Which blender brand should you choose?

Moulinex, part of the SEB group, covers every use in our grid, from the glass-jug Blendforce to the Easy Soup maker, with a 15-year repairability commitment. Philips offers its ProBlend blenders in the 3000 and 5000 series and provides recipes in the HomeID app. Ninja, from the SharkNinja group, multiplies formats: ice-crushing blender, 3-in-1 multifunction blender, soup maker, portable Blast and Creami ice cream maker. Bosch makes its VitaPower in Europe and guarantees the motor of its ErgoMaster stick blender for 10 years. KitchenAid, known for its stand mixers, offers the Artisan K400 with a glass jug. NutriBullet is the brand of the personal cup blender. Braun and Kenwood, both made by De'Longhi according to their Amazon pages, complete the grid with a stick blender and a chopper.

Other brands are much searched for, such as Smeg, Magimix, Seb, Tefal, Tristar or Bamix: they are not in this first grid and will be checked at the next update.

How we selected these models

I picked 15 appliances available on 07/10/2026, covering the six types and every budget, from the chopper to the multifunction blender. I left out the Vitamix E310 professional blender: on the day of the check, it was only sold by a third-party reseller and its Amazon page listed a 120 V voltage, to be checked before any purchase in France. For each model, I recorded the price, availability and seller on the Amazon France page, then cross-checked power, capacity, jug material and accessories against the manufacturer's page; a value that is missing or contradictory is marked « n.c. ». None of these appliances has been tested hands-on: the score out of 5 is an editor's review based on versatility, usable capacity, cleaning, claimed durability and price. The details are explained on our method page. For the rest of your small appliances, our air fryer selection and our coffee machine guide follow the same method, as does our deep fryer page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a hand blender and a blender?

A blender is a countertop appliance: the motor sits in the base and you blend in a closed jug. A stick blender is a wand you dip into the pan. A blender handles ice and frozen fruit better and makes larger batches; a stick blender takes up less space and blends soup where it cooks.

What is the best blender?

There is no best blender for everyone: the right model depends on what you blend. For smoothies and crushed ice for a family, go for a 1,000 to 1,200 W countertop blender with a glass or Tritan jug. For soup, a soup maker. For one smoothie a day, a personal cup blender.

What is the most powerful blender?

In our selection, the most powerful blenders are rated at 1,200 W: four models, from the Moulinex PerfectMix Plus to the Ninja Power Nutri 3-in-1. Power is not everything: the shape of the blades and jug matters just as much for an even blend, and the Amazon page of the KitchenAid K400 is too contradictory to retain a figure.

Is a soup-making blender worth it?

A soup maker cooks and blends in the same jug: you add raw vegetables and water, and get a hot velvety soup 20 to 25 minutes later, with no saucepan or stick blender to wash. It also makes compotes and, cold, smoothies. Its limit: 1.2 to 1.4 L of soup per batch on our models.

Is NutriBullet a good brand?

NutriBullet specialises in personal cup blenders, with motors from 600 to 1,200 W depending on the models sold on Amazon. The Pro 900 in our grid has a 900 W motor and a 700 ml cup. It is a good choice for one smoothie a day, less so for a family or for soups.

Can you blend hot soup in a blender?

Yes, if the jug can take it: heat-resistant glass or Tritan, and keeping below the maximum level the manufacturer gives for hot liquids. Let the steam escape through the measuring cap and start at low speed. A standard plastic jug and a portable blender are not made for boiling liquids.
