A crepe pan is recognisable by its very low sides, which let the spatula slide under the crepe to flip it. After that, you choose it on its material, whether it works on your hob, induction included, and the size of its base. If you are after an all-purpose frying pan, our category page compares every type. Here I have gathered 10 crepe pans sold on Amazon France, from De Buyer carbon steel to Staub cast iron, after reading their manufacturer pages and recording their prices on 07/10/2026. Each one has its drawback spelled out.

Crepe pan: our 3 picks
On induction with no upkeep, go for the Tefal Unlimited On; for crepe-shop crepes for years to come, the 30 cm Mineral B; for cast iron, the Staub crepe pan.
For induction with no seasoning: Tefal Unlimited On 28 cm (30.48 euros on 07/10/2026). Its drawback first: Tefal publishes no product page for this reference, and Amazon says it is not dishwasher safe. Otherwise, it is a non-stick pan that works on every hob including induction, with a Thermo-Signal that tells you when to pour the first ladle of batter.
For crepe-shop crepes: De Buyer Mineral B 30 cm (45.24 euros on 07/10/2026). The catch: you have to season it before the first crepe, wash it without detergent and dry it straight away. In return, this bare carbon steel pan offers 25.5 cm of usable surface according to the maker and becomes more non-stick with every use.
For cast iron: Staub crepe pan 28 cm (89.95 euros on 07/10/2026). When we checked, only one was left from a third-party seller, and it weighs 2.55 kg according to Staub. Its enamelled cast iron holds an even heat, its base measures 26.5 cm, and it comes with a wooden spatula and batter spreader.

Why choose a crepe pan?
A crepe pan is a flat pan with low sides: the batter spreads thinly right to the edge, and you can flip the crepe or slide the spatula under it without hitting a wall. A regular frying pan has higher sides that get in the way.
- The upsides: it fits in a drawer, heats on the hob you already own and costs 17.59 to 129.99 euros in our selection. It also handles pancakes, buckwheat galettes and fried eggs.
- The downsides: one crepe at a time, and whoever cooks stays at the stove on Pancake Day. To cook at the table, you need an electric crepe maker or a billig like Krampouz's.

To toss vegetables over high heat, you need the opposite, high sides: that is the job of a wok, compared on our frying pan and wok page.
Which material for a crepe pan?
Five materials share the shelf: non-stick aluminium, ceramic, carbon steel, cast iron and stainless steel. The table at the end of this section sums them up.
Non-stick aluminium crepe pans
The lightest and simplest: an aluminium body with a non-stick coating, from which the crepe lifts with a little butter. Tefal sells several, including the Unlimited On and the Ingenio Easy Plus (all hobs except induction). The 32 cm Pradel Excellence Pierra has a stone-effect coating sold as PFOA-free. This kind of coating wears with the years and dislikes overheating and metal utensils.
Ceramic crepe pans
A ceramic crepe pan swaps that coating for a mineral layer: Thermolon at GreenPan, sold as PFAS-free and guaranteed for 5 years; Inoceram at Tefal on the Renew, which has a 100% recycled aluminium body. It needs medium heat, and Tefal says so itself in its FAQ: ceramic's non-stick performance is more limited, in strength and in lifespan, than that of a PTFE coating. Plan on a little more fat.
De Buyer carbon steel crepe pans
Carbon steel is what crepe shops use. The Mineral B arrives coated in beeswax against rust: you remove it with very hot water, then season the pan, which builds a natural non-stick patina. The pan turns brown and then black, the sign it is well seasoned according to De Buyer. With no PTFE and no coating at all, it works on every hob including induction, but never goes in the dishwasher or meets detergent.
Cast iron crepe pans
Cast iron stores heat and releases it evenly, which gives golden crepes from the first to the last. Staub and Le Creuset enamel the inside of their models, so there is no seasoning to do, and both make them in France according to their pages. The price of that steady heat: 2.17 to 2.55 kg to handle, slow heating and the highest prices in our selection.
Stainless steel crepe pans
A bare stainless steel crepe pan is rare: with no coating, the batter sticks unless the temperature is spot on. Several crepe pans sold as "stainless steel" on Amazon actually add a non-stick layer, such as the Lacor Foodie (see below). Stainless steel makes the most sense for searing and deglazing in a regular pan, which we compare on our stainless steel induction pan page.
| Material | Who it suits | Strength | Limit | Prices on 07/10/2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-stick aluminium | Beginners, occasional use | Nothing sticks, light | Coating wears out | 17.99 to 33.90 euros |
| Ceramic | Anyone avoiding PTFE | Mineral layer | Medium heat only | 28.50 to 36.50 euros |
| Carbon steel | Lovers of thin golden crepes | Nothing to wear out, durable | Seasoning, no detergent | 17.59 to 45.24 euros |
| Enamelled cast iron | Long crepe and galette sessions | Steady heat | Weight, price | 89.95 to 129.99 euros |

How to choose a crepe pan
Check, in this order, compatibility with your cooker, the size of the base, the weight, and then the upkeep you are willing to do.
Induction, gas or ceramic hob
An induction crepe pan needs a magnetic base: carbon steel and cast iron are magnetic by nature, aluminium needs a disc added under the base. Nine of the ten models in our selection are sold as induction compatible; the Tefal Ingenio Easy Plus is not, and works on gas, electric and ceramic hobs. On an induction zone, pick a base close to its size so the crepe cooks right to the edge.
Size: large crepe pan or standard model
For a standard wheat crepe, aim for 26 to 28 cm; a large 30 to 32 cm crepe pan suits buckwheat galettes you fold. Above all, compare the usable base, which is smaller than the advertised size: 21 cm for the 24 cm Mineral B and 25.5 cm for the 30 cm one according to De Buyer, 26.5 cm for the Staub, 24.3 cm for the 27 cm Le Creuset.
Weight and handle
You hold a crepe pan in one hand, often tilting it to spread the batter, so weight matters. Count 0.97 kg for the Tefal Renew and 1.2 kg for the Unlimited On according to Amazon, 1.9 kg for the 30 cm Mineral B and 2.55 kg for the Staub. A removable handle (Pradel Pierra, Tefal Ingenio) lets you store the pan flat and put it in the oven.
Upkeep: dishwasher or seasoning
Non-stick and ceramic models are dishwasher safe according to their makers, although Tefal and GreenPan recommend washing with a soft sponge to spare the surface. Le Creuset's enamelled cast iron goes in the dishwasher too. Carbon steel is deglazed, rinsed in hot water, dried at once and can get a thin layer of maintenance wax.
Mini crepe and blini pans
For 10 to 12 cm mini crepes, a blini pan replaces the large one: the 12 cm Mineral B (17.59 euros on 07/10/2026) offers 11.8 cm of usable surface according to Amazon, for blinis, pancakes or mini crepes to fill. Its limit is the format: one mini crepe at a time, so you need two or three to serve a group. To cook six or eight at once at the table, an electric crepe party maker is a better fit.

How we selected these models
I picked 10 crepe pans available on Amazon France on 07/10/2026, covering every material, size and budget. For each one, I recorded the price, availability and seller on the Amazon page, then cross-checked size, base, weight, induction and upkeep against the manufacturer's page (De Buyer, Staub, Le Creuset, GreenPan, Tefal, Pradel Excellence). A value that is missing or contradictory is marked "n.c." (not communicated). None of these pans has been tested hands-on: the score out of 5 is an editor's review based on this data, upkeep and price. The full approach is on our method page.
The models we left out
- Lacor Foodie: sold on Amazon as an 18/10 stainless steel model under reference 45829, while Lacor's page for the Foodie gives reference 45729 and does not mention a stainless steel body. We could not cross-check the product on sale.
- Lodge round crepe pan: the Amazon title describes a round crepe pan, but the description on the same page describes a 40 x 27 cm rectangular griddle. The ASIN does not match a single product.
- De Buyer Force Blue 24 cm: only one left from a third-party seller when we checked, and an Amazon page that lists gas only while its description mentions induction at moderate power.
- IBILI Element 5Ply 26 cm: a rare uncoated stainless steel crepe pan, but with no price shown in the Amazon search of 07/10/2026.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best pan for making crepes?
The best pan for crepes depends on the upkeep you accept. Mineral B carbon steel gives golden crepes and lasts for years, provided you season it. A non-stick pan like the Tefal Unlimited On needs no special care. An enamelled cast iron crepe pan keeps the steadiest heat, at the cost of weight.
What is the best crepe pan brand?
No brand wins on every count. De Buyer makes its carbon steel pans in the Vosges, in eastern France. Staub and Le Creuset make their enamelled crepe pans in France. Tefal, which presents itself as the inventor of the non-stick pan, fits its models with a Thermo-Signal indicator, and GreenPan champions a ceramic coating sold as PFAS-free.
What is the healthiest crepe pan?
Pans with no non-stick coating sidestep the question: Mineral B carbon steel has none, and Staub and Le Creuset enamel their cast iron without stating a coating of that kind. Among coated pans, GreenPan states that its Thermolon ceramic is PFAS-free. Pradel Excellence states a PFOA-free coating, which says nothing about other PFAS.
What is the ideal pan size for crepes?
A 26 to 28 cm pan suits everyday wheat crepes. Go up to 30 or 32 cm for large buckwheat galettes, and down to 12 cm for blinis and mini crepes. Look at the usable base rather than the advertised size: 21 cm for a 24 cm Mineral B, 25.5 cm for the 30 cm one.
Should you choose an induction-compatible crepe pan?
Yes, if you have an induction hob or plan to switch: a pan that is not compatible, like the Tefal Ingenio Easy Plus, will not heat at all on it. Carbon steel and cast iron are compatible by nature, aluminium only with a magnetic base. For the best induction crepe pan, look for a base close to the size of the cooking zone.
